DGS DREAM 2

At "dgs" shop

The MABOCA Festival typically takes place in various unconventional locations across the city of Madona—spaces not originally built as museums or galleries.

In 2021, for the first time, a group exhibition titled dgs dream was held in a second-hand shop called “dgs.” The theme and goal of the exhibition was to draw the viewer into a dreamlike world where the joy of shopping, trying on clothes, and everyday conversations were enriched by the experience of art.

This time, the artists have reunited to create the second edition of dgs dream.

Dzirnieks creates lamps for the exhibition in collaboration with his dog Enzors. Groševs buys two paintings—a doggy and a hedgehog—from the “dgs” store, adds a stroke of genius with his brush, and places them back onto the very same nails they once hung from before being purchased. Ceipe decorates the fitting rooms with clouds that shine like patches, covering screw holes and the wear of time on the walls. Albiņš, together with Lapiņa, produces works that explore the dynamics of cohabitation through layered expressions of space. Kurševa spells it out in neon: Yes, a contemporary art exhibition can take place in a shop—everything is OK! Kristiāna Marija Sroģe transforms the graphic design of the space and adds new curtains to the fitting rooms.
